How we handle marketing
Most people using GCSE Gym are teenagers, so our rules are written for them first. Last updated 12 October 2026.
Only if you ask
- We only send marketing emails to people who have ticked a box to say yes. The box always starts unticked.
- Saying no changes nothing about how the app works for you.
- Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link that works in one click, no login needed. You can also switch emails off from your Account page.
- You need to be 13 or over to use GCSE Gym. We ask for the month and year you were born so we can follow the right rules for your age.
What students get
- Study tips, exam-season help, new subjects and new features. At most twice a month, and never late at night.
- If you're under 16, we never tell you to buy anything or to ask a parent to buy it, and we never use pressure like "everyone else is ahead of you" or fake deadlines.
- Prices and offers go only to the person who pays.
What parents and carers get
- Parents can opt in for themselves on the payment page. A student can't sign a parent up, and a payment request or scorecard doesn't count as a yes.
- Updates on supporting revision, new subjects, and price changes or offers. At most twice a month.
- Marketing emails never include a child's marks or activity.
What isn't marketing
Emails you need to use your account still arrive: confirming your email, password resets, free access ending, payment requests you asked for, receipts and "your subject is ready". They never include promotions.
Our records
- We keep a record of who said yes or no, the exact words they saw, and when.
- If you unsubscribe or delete your account, we keep only a scrambled (hashed) version of your email so we never email you by mistake.
- We don't build marketing profiles, use tracking pixels, or share or sell our lists.
We follow UK GDPR, PECR, the ICO's Children's Code and the CAP Code's rules on marketing to children. More in how GCSE Gym uses your data.
